Adria: Now to the gates! We have no time to lose.
Leah: Let’s go!
Note: The quest starts immediately after completing The Scouring of Caldeum quest — before the timer runs out.

OBJECTIVES
- Enter the City of Caldeum with Leah and Adria.
We have delayed long enough. It is time to bring an end to Belial’s ruses. I have never fought a Lord of Hell, but I would rather be defeated than watch the Balance suffer further.
Adria: Now, Leah, use your power just the way I taught you and bring down these gates!
Leah: Stand back! I still can’t fully control it.
Note: Enter the City of Caldeum.
OBJECTIVES UPDATE
- Go to the Imperial Palace in the City of Caldeum with Leah and Adria
Adria: You dare stand in our way?
Leah: We won!
Kamyr: Kneel before the servants of Belial!
Note: Move away from Doom Viper that channel that electric area of effect.
Templar: I don’t like the look of that!
Adria: Again, daughter!
Leah: I-I feel so weak, I-I don’t know if I can.
Adria: You must! Now!
Adria: It is up to you now. Hurry! I must stay here and tend to Leah.
Note: Enter the Imperial Palace.
Emperor Hakan II: Praise the gods, you’ve arrived just in time! Show me the soulstone!
Necromancer: Do you seek a new prison, Belial?
Emperor Hakan II: Clever. But know this, nephalem: Azmodan knows of the stone and the power it contains. Even if you defeat me, he will exterminate you and every last one of your misbegotten kind.
OBJECTIVES UPDATE
- Kill Belial
Note: Kill the Doom Vipers or Veiled Evokers that spawn. Don’t waste the Health Globes. Leave them on the ground for when you need them. Since they are mostly melee, you can pull them to the far edge of the circle so that the Health Globes stay out of the way and ready for the Belial fight.
Belial: I will not be undone! This world is mine!
Belial will spawn on the walkable area to fight you. Drop him down to 25% health to move to phase 2 of the encounter. From time to time, more Veiled Evokers will spawn to drop Health Globes. Kill them quick.
Note: At 25% health, Belial teleports back to the high ground, and shapeshifts into a massive monster.
Belial: I cast off these petty illusions. Behold the true vision of the Lord of Hell!
Note: Belial telegraphs what he will do next. When you see these green circles on the ground, move away. He will hit that specific spot with his arm.
Note: When Belial goes idle, as if breathing in… move to the farthest corner to the east. He will breath out green fire.
Note: There is a phase where the entire ground is marked with green circles. Keep moving and dodging them by moving to small safe areas.
BELIAL DIES
OBJECTIVES UPDATE
- Obtain the Soul of Belial in the Imperial Palace
Note: These are the achievements you can earn with Belial.
Note: Click the Soul of Belial which drops at the center of the semi-circle platform.
CUTSCENE
Adria: Quickly, Leah, seal Belial’s soul within the stone. It is ironic that one as twisted as Zoltun Kulle played so great a role in our salvation.
Tyrael: Kulle was once a tireless enemy of Hell. From his life, let us learn — the longer we fight evil, the more it can corrupt our hearts.
OBJECTIVES UPDATE
- Talk to Tyrael at the Hidden Camp
Note: Use the Town Portal (T) to teleport to the Hidden Camp.
Tyrael: Today is a good day. You have liberated this land and brought low a Lord of Hell. Enjoy this moment, for tomorrow our war continues.
Adria: There is no time for rest! Even now, Azmodan plots our destruction!
Tyrael: The Lord of Sin is an uncanny tactician. He’ll attack us where he believes we’ll least expect it.
Leah: And where defeat would break our will to resist.
Adria: You are learning well, Leah. Now, you must go to Caldeum’s Great Library and continue with your uncle’s work.
OBJECTIVES UPDATE
- Talk to the Caravan Leader to leave Caldeum
Caravan Leader: I can be ready to leave at a moment’s notice. Let me know when you are prepared to go.
NEXT QUEST: ACT III –
CINEMATIC
Leah: None of this makes any sense to me.
Leah: What am I missing, Uncle? What am I supposed to see?
Azmodan: You thought you were so clever…
Azmodan: That you’d outwitted us all. One by one, our brethren fell into your trap, but not me.
Azmodan: I defy you! I know the Black Soulstone is the key, and it shall be mine!
Azmodan: Soon my armies shall pour forth from the shattered mountain, ravaging this world and all hope of resistance. My minions will find the stone… wherever you choose to hide it.
Azmodan: Then, at long last, Azmodan shall reign as the Prime Evil.
Tyrael: Leah, are you all right? Speak to me, child.
Leah: Arreat… The demons’ invasion will come from Arreat.
TOWNSFOLK DIALOGUES: HIDDEN CAMP
BELIAL’S DEFEAT | ||
Myriam | I knew you’d have an easy time defeating Belial.
Necromancer | It was not easy.
Myriam | Oh, you’re way too modest. Now Azmodan, that’s going to be a fight. |
THE FIRST MEMORIES | ||
Necromancer | Have you remembered anything?
Enchantress | Yes, faintly. My sisters and I were once mere servants in the house of a great Vizjerei lord.
Necromancer | Did you learn magic from him?
Enchantress | No. I began reading his spellbooks out of curiousity and teaching magic to my sisters — tricks, really. It was amusing for a time. But then I learned that he had begun to summon daemons. |
CALDEUM AFTER BELIAL | ||
Haedrig Eamon | Do you wonder what will happen in Caldeum now?
Necromancer | The true emperor lives, and he has many allies to safeguard the city.
Haedrig Eamon | Asheara will be there to keep the peace. I only hope they rebuild wisely. I have seen the ruin that Leoric and Diablo brought in Tristram. I would not wish it upon Caldeum. |
PRISON | ||
Kala | I sold everything I own just to get by. I appreciate everything you’ve done for us, but I have to leave. Caldeum was never home to me. It was a beautiful prison. I may die out there on the road, but it will be in the open air with the world stretching out before me. |
TOWNSFOLK DIALOGUES: CALDEUM BAZAAR
DAMIUS | ||
Damius | I… thank you for what you have done. I wish that my companions had lived to see this day. |
Villager: Now Caldeum is sure to return to its former glory. |
Rasheed: Things have gotten out of hand over the last few days. We have all said… done… things that we regret. But that is all in the past now, thanks to you! I will return to my estate and never… never… think of this time again. |
Nobleman: There goes our savior! Without her, we would still be huddling in that filthy sewer! |
Girl: I’ve been wanting to speak to you about that, my lord. Now that we’re safe, do you think you might go home? |
Nobleman: I think not. I have come to enjoy this amazing encampment. There’s so much more to see! For example, what is that over there? |
Girl: (sigh) A scorpion, my lord. If you try to pick it up like you did the rat, it will kill you. |
Nobleman: Fascinating! |
Refugee: You are a true hero! |
SHOCKING FAMILIARITY | ||
Noblewoman | Thank you for bringing sanity back to our city. Jeran and I owe you our lives.
Necromancer | Who is Jeran?
Jeran (Iron Wolf Swordsman) | Er, that would be me. We hid during the bombardment, pressed together in a crevice. We had some time to get to know each other.
Noblewoman | He heroically shielded my body with his own throughout the entire night! And told me delightfully risqué stories to keep me calm!
Jeran | (cough) Happy to, my lady. |
Villager: The Iron Wolves owe you their allegiance for exposing Belial. We all do! |
Vilager: Thank you for saving us from that foul demon. He would have destroyed us all! |
Villager: You should rule! All hail the hero of Caldeum! |
Alcarnus Refugee: The future doesn’t seem so bleak anymore, thanks to you. |
TOWNSFOLK DIALOGUES: SEARING SANDS INN
Refugee: I always knew the emperor was possessed by that demon. It explains everything. |
Saider the Innkeeper: Everything’s gone the way of the Burning Hells around here, as far as I’m concerned. |
