Blizzard Entertainment’s Diablo 4 Team has revealed the Diablo 4 Roadmap giving a sneak peek into systems and content coming in Season 8, Season 8 (Aprl-Jul), Season 9 (Jul-Sept), and Season 10 (Sept-Dec). There is also the lingering 2026 new Expansion.

Diablo IV 2025 Roadmap

Diablo 4 2025 Roadmap Revealed

Season 8: Belial’s Return

The Season 8 theme: “Belial’s Return” was tested in the PTR in March and it’s expected to roll out on April 29. In that Season, players will obtain Boss Powers as a mechanic. You kill one of the assigned bosses, and unlock their specific Boss Power. For example, World Bosses such as Ashava, Avarice, and the Wandering Death. Or Uber Bosses like Lilith, Duriel, and Andariel.

You only have one main Boss Power slot and three passive Boss Powers slots. All Boss Powers have a main ability and a passive which becomes active when you add them to one of the corresponding slots.

The Apparition Incursion activity felt a bit different than previous Seasons’ content. After you complete all the objectives in an area, you must defeat an avatar of Belial. It drops a summoning item that allows you to summon Belial at a new Uber Boss Dungeon located east of Caldeum. These Apparition Incursions rotate locations around the Estuar continent.

A new Feline Pet can be earned. 3 new Lair Bosses: Belial, Urivar, and Harbinger. These last two were in the Vessel of Hatred expansion’s story mode. Nice to see them as Lair Bosses. The Harbinger one is a bit chaotic with timed events and random boss spawns as he appears and disappears to and from portals. I recommend players to test these in Eternal Realm or with a non-Hardcore character because Harbinger is truly gonna decimate some Hardcore players.

Season 9: Sins of the Horadrim

This season is focused on Horadrim Powers. This might be quite an interesting Season for those who appreciate Diablo lore. Lorath is now the last of the Horadrim, and a drunk. Plus, we haven’t heard from him after the Diablo 4 (vanilla) story finale, other than a little letter left behind in the Horadrim sanctum in Vessel of Hatred.

We know he has a debt to the Tree of Whispers — but we don’t know much else. This Season gives us hope that we might learn more about what he’s been up to, and whether more Horadrim has risen. It might also give us hope to learn more about Tyrael’s whereabouts since the Diablo III finale. One can dream at least a hint or cliffhanger for future expansions if not now.

Will we see some Diablo Immortal Horadric powers come into that Season? Or some of the Horadrim member’s spirits? Hopefully, the creative team is open to lore continuity and growth from the story of Diablo II, Diablo III, and Diablo Immortal. Fans love to see stuff from past games come up in the current game they are playing. Myself included.

The roadmap shows we will be earning a new pet in each Season. We earned a Raven Pet in Season 7. A feline pet is coming in Season 8, and the Season 9-10 pets are not revealed yet. I like this pet reward trend. Eventually, there is room to have a sort of Pet Stable and potentially pets that grant different buffs or perks like in Anima RPG? Time will tell.

Another feature of Season 8 is Dungeon Escalation. I am not sure I agree with that. We need more content to farm such as The Pit and Undercity, not rehash older content most people don’t care about. But according to an IGN interview with Brent Gibson — there seems to be a flair for preparing the way in advance of the upcoming 2026 expansion. So I’m open-minded about how that Nightmare Dungeon experience is enhanced.

Read the IGN interview for more details.

Season 10: Infernal Chaos

The Infernal Hordes are getting a rework based on player feedback. The Season theme revolves on Infernal Chaos Powers. I hope this is not about Infernal Hordes, but something related to Mephisto now roaming the world and affecting it in unforeseen ways leading up to the 2026 expansion. Curiously, the developers didn’t share permanent addition info for the September-December cycle.

2026 New Expansion

This part of the Roadmap only reveals the expansion will launch in 2026, but reveals a new Ranking System and Leaderboards. The last feature is veiled behind a flame and the text is set with a lower opacity, but being a short word it is more than obvious that the developers are teasing a “New Class” is coming in the upcoming Expansion.

Something missing in the Roadmap is that there is no visible plans to make the Witch Doctor area accessible. This is the large portion of land next to Nahantu — to the east. The area is not big enough to justify a whole new expansion, but would have been nice as a new sub-zone of Nahantu in any of the upcoming Seasons — even as a brand-new The Pit-style content.

Last we heard about the Witch Doctors comes from Diablo Immortal, where Tassi is looking for the Seven Stones of Umbaru legend. Was she successful in finding them? If so, did she bring prosperity or chaos to her people, over 50 years later? The Seven Stones sound like something we could use in a Season Powers, or acquire permanently. Maybe collect them for safeguarding them, and to get buffs from for future Angelic or Demonic content.
