A few days ago, Razer teased they would announce a new epic product in 13 days. Many fans, including myself, think it might be the SwitchBlade or a product based on the concept. Razer stated at CES 2011 and in some tweets the SwitchBlade is not a product, but a codename for a concept they have been working secretly the past two years after acquiring the engineering team of a global award winning ultra mobile handheld brand where the key lead engineers used to be employed by Apple, HP, and Dell.

We might not see exactly the SwitchBlade device they showed at CES, but something different. We have already seen the SwitchBlade concept show up in the shape of a Star Wars: The Old Republic Gaming Keyboard which features the same LCD multi-touch track-panel technology found in the SwitchBlade concept. It seems Razer will implement this concept in several of their upcoming products.

The teaser posted in Twitter about the Seven Deadly Sins — seems to refer to the Tiamat Surround Sound 7.1 Gaming Headset (first ever in the world). I was thrown off track when they unveiled this one.

However, it seems the original teaser about an Epic Product was not the Tiamat headset after all. Eldorian informed me Razer has an advertisement at the … holy cow? … Wall Street Journal website which says:

To our friends XBox, PlayStation, and Wii.

We have all heard the rhetoric about the demise of PC Gaming — the stories that console gaming will take over all gaming and that PC gamers will be left with shoddy ports of console titles.

The rumors of our untimely demise have been greatly exaggerated. We are more than 300 million PC gamers worldwide and this legion is growing every day. Today there are more PC gamers than all console gamers combined and we have been silent in the face of the closed gaming systems that have been propagated.

We, the PC Gamers, have been here since the beginning and have seen the industry grow to surpass movies and music, and we look forward to an open world where console and PC gamers will stand side by side as gamers in arms.

We are here today to tell you, that on the 26th of August, we will seek to end the silence and bring a new age of openness to innovation to all gaming. Together we shall remind you – that PC Gaming is NOT dead.

GLHF,

RAZER

FOR THE PC GAMERS OF THE WORLD

I don’t know about you folks, but that definitely looks like a manifesto with bits of sarcasm — calling XBox, PS3 and Wii “Razer’s friends” — yet openly declaring war against closed gaming systems that have been propagated by Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo. A call to war to unite Console gamers and PC Gamers alike with a Razer product that will bring game developers and gamers into a new age of openness. The keyword here is openness. A sort of Console / PC hybrid which allows game developers to do what the closed gaming systems won’t allow them to do?

Alright, now that’s serious business there! The manifesto doesn’t sound like a bluff, and the ramifications here will spell doom to XBox 360, PS3 and Wii definitely. Razer now has the attention of all gamers and the industry no doubt. Is the Switchblade concept related to a Razer Game Consolaptop? Mind-boggling …

Going to the PCGamingisnotDead.com website triggers a manifesto in PC voice talk mode.

“Just heard that PCs got replaced by consoles.” [Static]

Allow me first to apologize for this interruption. We have all heard the rhetoric about the DEMISE of PC GAMING. The stories that console gaming will TAKE OVER all GAMING. Rest assured, these rumors have been GREATLY EXAGGERATED.

There are of course those who do not want us to speak. Those who would continue to propagate CLOSED SYSTEMS and networks.

The open system offers the means by which to speak with you, and to those who will listen THE TRUTH. And the truth is, there is something terribly WRONG with game today. Isn’t that?

FEAR got the best of you during your panic to conform to exclusive titles, LACK OF INNOVATION and SHODDY CONSOLE PORTS. And in your panic, you turned to consoles, and all they demanded in return was SILENT, OBEDIENT CONSENT.

The open system of PC gaming was here first.

There are more than 300,000,000 PC gamers in the world, and there are more of us in silence together than all console gamers COMBINED.

And on the 26th of August, we seek to end that silence and remind the world that an open gaming system is not just an idea, BUT A REALITY.

Stand beside us on the 26TH OF AUGUST, and together we shall remind the world that PC GAMING IS NOT DEAD.

How is that for a tease? This is a call to arms. A revolution. Razer is kicking a bee hive, a hornet nest and a wasp comb with a vengeance, declaring war against the three major game console companies and proclaiming their demise. That’s not a threat to take lightly.

Eldorian pointed out Razer will be at PAX 2011 this upcoming weekend and their panel coincides with the unveiling of the epic Razer product related to the above manifesto. PC Gaming Is Not Dead.
