Time: 3:00pm – 3:30pm

Attendees can expect a conversation that will feature the ins and outs of video game production, what studio leadership entails, and reflections from my 21 year career in games that include work games like the Gears of War franchise, BioShock Infinite, and most recently, Diablo IV.

Kris Graft, Editor-in-Chief of Gamasutra, will be joining this session as moderator.

Rod is the Head of the Diablo Franchise at Blizzard Entertainment where he oversees all things Diablo, including the highly anticipated Diablo IV and Diablo Immortal.

Prior to Blizzard, Rod started his career with a 10-year stint at Microsoft where his work included Counter-Strike for the original Xbox.

He then served as Executive Producer and then Director of Production for the billion-dollar Gears of War franchise at Epic Games.

After Epic Games, Rod oversaw the development of the highly-rated BioShock Infinite as Irrational Games’ EVP of Development.

Then, in 2014, he re-joined Microsoft to help form The Coalition studio, and relaunch the Gears of War franchise with five games in six years, including new genres and platforms.

In March, Rod, a lifelong Blizzard fan, was able to join the studio to head up the Diablo franchise and help lead the charge for next phase for Diablo and it’s return to darkness.
