The hype is real and it keeps growing, folks. At Reddit, RandomMan00 shared a discovery while researching.

If you go to diablo5.blizzard.com or whatever.blizzard.com you will get the same behavior: Server Not Found.

However, if you type diablo2.blizzard.com something unique happens:

Since this is a specific CloudFront error message, RandomMan00 investigated at CloudFront’s knowledge center what the error means. It is a firewall rule to block access requests to the page from outside admin view. This is not your regular No server found error. This was a firewall rule set by a Blizzard web administrator to hide something.

At this point, some fans might still be skeptical and brush it off as nothing to see here. Nothing special. RandomMan00 then kept digging and ran a securitytrails search for diablo2.blizzard.com

The first activity was recorded on June 8, 2020. Last activity on that subdomain happened 22 hours ago on June 23, 2020.

He compared the records with diablo4.blizzard.com which shows that the first activity on the subdomain started on November 1, 2019. Three days later, Blizzard Entertainment announced Diablo 4 at BlizzCon 2019, and the subdomain went Live November 4, 2019.

So… does that mean that Blizzard Entertainment is getting ready to make a Diablo II announcement? That this subdomain is soon coming Live?

Diablo II’s 20th Anniversary is on June 29, 2020.

I understand the skepticism, but there have been a lot of activity surrounding Diablo 2. Too many coincidences in a row becomes suspicious.

Read the Reddit thread. Thanks to MrMesli for bringing it to my attention.

7:37pm UPDATE

Diablo Community Manager PezRadar debunked all Diablo II rumors — at least and specifically for the month of June.

Yes, Diablo III Season 21 starts on July 3.

Yes, the Diablo IV Quarterly update is coming within the end of June.

Yes, there is some kind of activities (plural) planned around June 29.

No Diablo announcements in June — as per PezRadar. What does that even mean? Is July fair game? Thanks, Ivenend for bringing it to my attention.

For the record, that PezRadar update was not in response to the diablo2.blizzard.com Reddit thread. It was not a response to the Diablo II: Resurrected rumor thread (related to Actugaming).

This response was addressing the recent Reddit thread that said that an announcement is happening on June 29. That specific thread was not a rumor, a possibility, or a theory. It was flat misleading because the author made it look as a fact and didn’t mention a source to proof the fact.

Things that PezRadar didn’t address, clarify, or comment on:

  • He didn’t debunk Blizzard is developing Diablo II: Resurrected or the Vicarious Visions component
  • He didn’t debunk the diablo2.blizzard.com thread assumptions

Only that there are no Diablo announcements in “June” — other than the Diablo IV Quarterly update.
