Diablo III (PS4) Playable in PS5

According to the recent list of games not backward-compatible with the PlayStation 5, Diablo III (PS4) is playable. However, the PS3 version isn’t compatible as none of the PS1, PS2 and PS3 games are compatible in PS5.

About 99.7% of the PS4 games are backward-compatible with the PS5 via the “Game Boost” feature which forces PS4 games to run at faster or smoother framerates.

If you plan to play your Diablo III (PS4) CD, you will need to buy the PlayStation 5 with a disc drive. Therefore, not compatible with the PS5 Digital Edition.

There is a workaround for those who decide to purchase the PS5 Digital Edition:

Transfer digital games from a PS4 console to a PS5 console

  • You can transfer digital games and saved data from a PS4 console to a PS5 console using WiFi data transfer.
  • You can access PS4 games on a PS5 console directly from a PS5 extended storage drive.

The PlayStation 5 will be available in November 12th.
