Patch 2.4.0 is now live for Diablo III: Reaper of Souls – Ultimate Evil Edition on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
This patch includes a variety of item and content updates, including (but not limited to):
New Zone: Greyhollow Island
The mysterious forested locale of Greyhollow Island is now open for exploration! Inhabited by new enemies and steeped in intrigue, brave the wilds and unravel the enigma behind the isle’s mysterious inhabitants. Be forewarned, however; the land itself is hungry for blood.

Expanded Areas: The Eternal Woods & Leoric’s Manor
The Sanctuary you know grows larger. Two existing zones are receiving new, fully explorable additions, featuring new bounties and events. Survive the hunting grounds of the fierce yeti in the Eternal Woods, a new branch of The Ruins of Sescheron zone. Leoric’s Manor becomes a bit grander beyond the collapsed stairwell in Act I, opening up the Royal Quarters for curious treasure hunters.
New Feature: Set Dungeons
Test your mettle against one of twenty-four custom designed set dungeons! Each dungeon features a pre-generated, static course designed entirely around a specific class set. Don all six pieces of your chosen set and visit Leoric’s Library to obtain a clue on where these hidden trials are located. Hunt down your dungeon of choice and master it to unlock exclusive cosmetic rewards for one, more, or for the truly dedicated, all of these challenges!
New Feature: Empowered Rifts
Spend your gold to empower a Greater Rift, granting a fourth opportunity to upgrade a Legendary Gem. Gold costs vary based on the tier of Greater Rift level attempted, and bonus upgrades are granted only to those who successfully complete the rift, so spend wisely!
Players may now purchase additional stash space, up to 350 slots total
At level 70, +% Bonus Experience is reduced to 10% effectiveness
Death’s Breath now has a unique item color and have a beam effect for increased visibility
Several existing sets have received power redesigns or significant updates

Nephalem Rift Updates
Medium and Large versions of most cave maps can no longer appear in Greater Rifts
Density has been increased in many cave maps
The amount of progression granted by progress orbs in Nephalem and Greater Rifts has been increased
The number of progression orbs dropped by Rare monsters has been increased from 3 to 4
The total amount of progress required to complete a rift has been increased
Several new tile sets based on the new zones introduced in Patch 2.3.0 and 2.4.0 have been added for Nephalem Rifts
New snow and forest themed monster population types have been added for Nephalem Rifts
Some Pylons have been slightly tweaked for balance
Adventure Mode Updates
A new recipe has been added to Kanai’s Cube
An arrow will now indicate the location of the Keywarden if you are in a zone where one is present
The names and descriptions of the Keywardens and the items they drop have been changed to correspond to the respective realms their machines open and the organs dropped in those realms
Bandit Shrines now have a unique appearance
Experience granted by all monsters at level 70 has been increased
Monster health has been reduced in solo, 2, and 3-player Greater Rifts
Elites in Set Dungeons can now occasionally drop pieces of Set Dungeon lore
The tactics and animations of several enemies have been retuned
The tactics and animations of several Rift Guardians have been retuned
Rift Guardians will now teleport to a player if there is a very long walking distance between them
Starting at Torment VII, Rift Guardians now drop a guaranteed Forgotten Soul and have a chance, increased by difficulty level, to drop a second Forgotten Soul
The user interface has received several quality of life updates
Skill buttons with active skills now glow
Skill buttons with time-limited buffs now show a timer bar
Skill buttons with stacked buffs now show the stack count in green
Revenge now plays an effect on the skill button when it is ready
A second row has been added to the buff bar for each player with space for up to 14 total buff icons
Very large floating numbers will now be abbreviated
An option has been added to disable this abbreviation
An effect has been added to the XP bar when players gain or lose bonus experience from Pools of Reflection

Blizzard Entertainment announced Diablo III players will enjoy double the cache rewards throughout this weekend. Good opportunity to get the materials you need for crafting, enchanting or the Kanai’s Cube.
Kanai’s Cube has changed the face of Diablo III forever, and it’s a hungry Horadric artifact! We hope you’ve been enjoying this versatile addition to the game, and to help you take even greater advantage of its powerful transmutation abilities, for this weekend only each full set of bounties you complete will reward double Caches! This applies to both Horadric and Bonus Caches, so be sure to hit up those bonus acts for extra rewards.
This bonus period begins in the Americas region this Friday, September 25, at 12:01 a.m. PDT and ends on Sunday, September 27 at 11:59 p.m. PDT.

Blizzard Entertainment released patch 2.3.0 today introducing three features: Ruins of Sescheron, Kanai’s Cube and Season Journey.
In addition, Torment 7-10 difficulty level has been added. Keywardens no longer drop keys, instead they drop Infernal Machines (thus recipes were removed). The patch notes also include various class and monster changes.
New York Times bestselling author Richard A. Knaak posted in his Facebook page that his Polish publisher Wydawnictwo Insignis announced the launch of Diablo: The Sin War, Scales of the Serpent (Diablo: Wojna Grzechu, Smocze Luski) in Polish language.
One of his fans commented he wants to see more of Richard A. Knaak’s Diablo novels, to which the author responded: “Nothing new on the horizon, sadly. Hoping that’ll change.”
Personally, while there are people who differ, I love Richard’s novels in the Diablo and Warcraft universes. Without Richard, we wouldn’t have the Dragon Aspects, Onyxia, Nefarian, World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, The Hour of Twilight, or even Wrathion. How about Grim Batol, Dalaran in Wrath of the Lich King and the Fall of Theramore.
There is so much in the Warcraft lore that was born from the mind of Richard A. Knaak, or that by domino effect was born in the mind of other writers and Blizzard story developers based on his past work.
I’d love Blizzard to call him back to write at least more Diablo stories involving Zayl or other characters. There was a twenty years gap between Diablo II and Diablo III that is food for awesome stories that may shape future games based in the Diablo universe. That, and I miss him so much.
After my first interview with Richard back in 2003 about Warcraft: Day of the Dragon, I went and picked up the novel and read it. That was my first intro to novels based on Blizzard games and heck the first book I read after nearly 15 years since my college days. Ever since, I have read all Warcraft, StarCraft and Diablo novels, mangas, and comic books; and that first interview and novel inspired me to report news about upcoming Blizzard Licensed Products for the past 12 years.
Back in 2003, that interview dropped the first hints ever that Diablo III was in development. Gamespot writer Tor Thorsen picked up on our interview’s buzz and posted an article titled: “Diablo 3’s existence confirmed?”
Gamespot: To promote his forthcoming Diablo book, Diablo: The Sin War: Book One: Birthright, Knaak spoke with Blizzplanet.com and took questions from its readers. However, the biggest bomb came from a site staffer going by the handle “Medievaldragon,” who casually asked if his latest book–the first of a trilogy–would “impact in the storyline of Diablo 3 the game.”
Knaak responded candidly, saying, “The ramifications here will be used for any future project … and I ain’t writing for a dead game.” Later, when asked by a reader about Diablo, he repeated his loaded words: “I am not writing for a dead world … but a world with dead,” said Knaak, adding, “‘Nuff said!
Community manager Nevalistis posted the first hotfix for patch 2.2. No download necessary, but you might have to restart the Diablo III client for the changes to take effect. In this case, the Crusader would keep Akarat’s Champion buff permanently under a specific situation. Good thing Diablo III PvP isn’t around, or Crusaders would wreck everything like a hell-bent bull. No worries though, it’s all good now.

These hotfixes should not require you to download a new patch. Some of the hotfixes below will go live the moment they are implemented while others may require restarting the game to go into effect. Please keep in mind that some issues cannot be addressed without a client-side patch. Also note that changes to certain abilities will not be reflected in its tooltip until a patch is issued.

A post at the official Diablo III website seems to hint you might find sudden orange portals opening up in the middle of your adventures. Enter if you dare at your own peril.

We’ve recently herd rumors of an invasion. Not one of a demonic nature, mind you, for those we are quite accustomed to. No, these rumors allege that townships throughout Khanduras are being overrun by bipedal, bardiche-bearing bovine who are luring weary adventurers to the proverbial slaughter through moosterious orange portals.
Many of you have expressed fear. Some have asked if you should moov your families. To this we say: Hold fast. There is no cause for alarm. We’ve seen the so-called “evidence” being pastured around local inns and, after thoroughly investigating all reported sightings, can cowfindently state that this is nothing more than a clever hoax.

There are no homicidal heifers. There is no invasion. And, more specifically,there is no cow level. Anyone who claims otherwise is full of bull and simply milking this terrible prank for all that it’s worth.
That said, while the idea of some sort of “cowpocalypse” (as one terrified farmer has taken to calling this) is udderly ridiculous, it is worth noting that one can never be too careful. And so, after consulting with our local Horadrim chapter, we have elected to issue an advisory.
Effective immediately, we encourage all residents of Sanctuary to steer clear of the wilds. From dawn on May 15 to dusk on May 21, it is also recommended that you avoid entering any strange portals that may or may not lead to alternate planes of existence. This activity cud be potentially hazardous to your health and, in the opinion of this humble civil servant, is a veally bad idea in general.
In the meantime, we urge you all to stay calm and remember that cows don’t kill people. Everything ELSE in Sanctuary kills people.
Community Manager Grimiku responded to a thread concerning Scaling damage in Greater Rifts, and revealed plans to disable permanent crowd control in an upcoming content patch. This will of course be tested in the PTR for analysis before going live, so further adjustments might happen by then.
Grimiku: Hey guys! Just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to give us your feedback about scaling damage in Greater Rifts. One of the key goals of Greater Rifts is that they serve as a form of measuring stick for a characters power growth, and we feel that scaling damage is a very important element of their ability to function in this way. That said, we’re currently looking at our options for some possible adjustments to how this damage scales in the future.
We’re looking to disable permanent Crowd Control in an upcoming content patch to create more interaction with monsters at higher Greater Rifts levels. To complement that change, we will be also be evaluating how much damage monsters are dealing to players in that environment. One of our goals in the next major patch is to provide a more consistent Greater Rift experience while making sure that defensive Legendary items still matter.
