Jason Babler recently submitted his Diablo III Unburied sculpture to the Marin County Fair 2009—event that took place at San Rafael, California through July 1-5th—and became the winner of the Creatures and Models Competitive Exhibit. He is very excited, and surprised since the sculpture wasn’t finished. For comparison’s sake, visit the official Diablo 3 website and check out the Bestiary page: The Unburied—which displays a concept art and an animation.

The Creatures and Models Competitive Exhibit was judged by Kerner Optical (a new studios born from former employess of George Lucas’s Industrial Light and Magic, or ILM).  Now how awesome is that to have your Diablo III fan-made sculpture be chosen as the winner by this studios?

Kerner Optical is credited for their work on Indiana Jones 4, Wall-E, Transformers 2, Terminator Salvation, Spiderwick Chronicles, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Jarhead, The Island, War of the Worlds, Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Van Helsing, Starship Troopers, Deep Impact, and so many more it would take forever to add here.

Congratulations to Jason, and we share his flattering experience to be chosen by such a professional and worldwide-known studios.
